Lead Platform Architect Energy Storage Systems (ESS)

What will you do?
Within ESS, we are developing the next generation of our platform. The challenge is not only to further enhance our embedded controllers and cloud environment, but above all to define a future-proof platform architecture that seamlessly connects both worlds. You will lead the transformation of an existing landscape into a scalable, secure, and manageable platform that is ready to support growth over the next decade.
As Lead Platform Architect, you will drive the development of the future platform architecture for ESS. You will oversee the entire ecosystem, its complexity, and interdependencies. By bringing together different disciplines, you will make decisions that influence how ESS solutions are designed, built, managed, and evolved.
You will translate the product strategy and R&D roadmap into clear architectural principles, technical frameworks, and design decisions. In doing so, you will focus on modularity, standardization, scalability, security, interoperability, and the intelligent use of data.
You will assess the implications of strategic and technical decisions and convert them into clear recommendations for decision-making, including their impact on costs, resources, risks, quality, and planning.
In this role, you will report to the R&D Director ESS and work closely with Product Management, Domain Architects, Engineering Leads, and R&D teams. You will challenge, connect, and support the organization in moving from isolated expertise toward a shared platform vision. In doing so, you will have a direct impact on both the technological direction and the way of working within ESS.
What do you bring?
You have a Master’s degree level of thinking and working (WO level) and experience in a senior architecture role within a complex technical environment. You have a proven track record of providing direction and influencing decision-making in environments where technology, product development, and business priorities continuously intersect.
In addition, you have:
- Demonstrable experience designing end-to-end solutions that integrate embedded systems, connectivity, and cloud applications.
- Experience modernizing and future-proofing complex software and system landscapes.
- Knowledge of relevant industry protocols and standards within the energy sector is an advantage. More importantly, you understand how reliable and secure communication between devices and cloud platforms is achieved.
- Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Residence in the Netherlands, fluency in English, and experience working in a European business environment. Proficiency in Dutch is considered an advantage.
- A strong understanding of device-to-cloud architectures, distributed systems, data exchange, and cybersecurity.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, enabling you to align teams, architects, product management, and leadership around a shared technical vision.
